Biography

Lucas “Luke” B. Cowan joined Cowsert Heath as an associate in December of 2019. His practice includes criminal defense, automobile insurance defense including uninsured/underinsured motorist litigation, and general civil litigation. Prior to joining Cowsert Heath, Mr. Cowan was an Assistant Solicitor-General in Athens, Georgia and an Assistant District Attorney in Americus, Georgia. He has extensive jury trial experience in trial courts throughout the state of Georgia.

Mr. Cowan first attended Emmanuel College where he graduated with a General Education degree in 2011. He then transferred to the University of Georgia where he graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice in May of 2013. Mr. Cowan then attended the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University where he was selected for several mock trial teams and participated in numerous prosecution externships up until his graduation in May of 2016. Mr. Cowan became a member of the State Bar of Georgia in November of 2016. He is admitted to practice before the Georgia Supreme Court, the Georgia Court of Appeals, and the State and Superior Courts of the State of Georgia. Mr. Cowan is also an adjunct professor at Emmanuel College where he teaches courses in their Criminal Justice program.

Mr. Cowan and his wife, Chandler, live in Athens, Georgia with their dog, Wallace. In their spare time, they enjoy UGA sports and spending time with their family.
